Clinical examination, electrocardiography, HbA1c, and pulmonary function parameters were estimated for all participants. Patients' groups were further classified into 3 groups: (51) patients on metformin (56) patients on metformin plus thiazolidinedione and (53) patients on metformin plus sulfonylurea. Two hundred and sixty individuals of both genders were enrolled in the study: 100 healthy individuals, and an age-matched group of 160 DM2 patients.
